Description
The synagogue at Neudeggergasse 12, built in 1903 according to plans by Max Fleischer, once presented itself as a lofty neo-Gothic exposed brick building that dominated the surrounding streetscape and gave the area its “face”. With a height roughly twice the height of the surrounding buildings, the towers towered towards the sky and lent the tranquil-looking alley a dominant verticality. This project explores the potential of QuicktimeVR as part of a computer-aided reconstruction of the synagogue destroyed in 1938. Modeled on the complex perceptual processes in everyday surroundings, the virtual reconstruction also strives to recreate the coherent observation of a scene.
