Die Achse

The main square forms the center of Neulengbach’s defining urban axis. At this point, the entire landscape from the Tulln Basin to Neulengbach Castle can be seen – if it were not for the building front of the main square in the way. For this reason, a building is to be erected at this urban center that will make it possible to experience this axis within the urban fabric. The viewer passing through the main square will be granted a view of the Tulln basin. This is intended to encourage curious exploration of the building. A pergola leads to further, higher roof terraces, which in turn invite visitors to linger and play. The highlight is the “high point” of building no. 16 on the main square: The consumer-free viewing platform offers the opportunity to enjoy the view of Neulengbach Castle. The “round-the-clock” sale of regional products takes place on the first floor of the same building. The building makes the multitude of visual axes perceptible at one point, so that ultimately the building itself becomes the new axis of the city.
