Stadthybrid

The project takes advantage of the prominent location of the properties directly on Neulengbach’s main square by combining public, social, culinary and cultural offerings as well as creating living space to create a new car-free center with a view. By demolishing the structural separation between properties no. 14 and 16 and partially demolishing the property at Hauptplatz no. 16, space will be gained to create an open and barrier-free town square that follows the topography. The area of the former courtyard and parking areas will be redesigned and partially unsealed. Two new buildings will be constructed on the outer edges of the site, from which the future town square can be used. The cubature and materiality of these new buildings take the existing buildings into consideration. At the transition between the town square and the green space to the west, a third new building will be constructed for restaurants. In order to preserve the existing townscape of the historic town center of Neulengbach, the structural interventions on the street façade are limited to the first floor zone of house number 16.
