This project is dedicated to the “Alte Mühle” property, which has been structurally extended several times and supplemented by a bakery. In order to meet the requirements of new forms of use and contemporary living needs, it is necessary to improve the lighting situation. The basic concept of maximising the illuminated area is shown by the targeted incision in the building structure. At the same time, the hotel extension is replaced by a new building that follows the contours of the existing building but opens up in all directions. An essential part of the project is the basement of the old mill, which is retained as a connecting building element between the old and the new and forms a common centre in the form of a terrace. The basement zone will then be revitalised with the help of community and commercial spaces. The combination of small temporary and permanent residential units is intended to create a balanced mixed use.
