This project intends to transform the “Old Mill” into a cultural centre. Here, the already existing offer in the village is to actively contribute to cultural, musical and social development by creating spaces. In addition to practice and event rooms for music and dance in the mill, a literature café for reading, exchanging books and as a communicative meeting place is planned. The demolition of the old boarding house will create an inner courtyard that opens up to the landscape with seating steps and thus creates a connection to the castle ruins “Hinterhaus”. A geometrically clear extension to the existing bakery provides space for the literature café and divides the atrium, which connects the buildings with each other and also serves as access. Precisely placed openings and a play of air spaces in the interior also bring light into the existing room.
