Wohnhof Lindengasse
The project illustrates the transformation process of a traditional Viennese courtyard house. The focus is on the goal of rethinking urban living while preserving the unique charm of the location. Through intelligent use of space, the available volume is expanded in a targeted manner without compromising the historic substance. The base of the residential courtyard is designed as a lively, communal space around the inner courtyard that meets the needs of both the residents and the surrounding neighborhood. In addition, compact residential units in a lightweight timber structure are planned as a modern addition. These impress with their well thought-out room layout and large windows, which create a high quality of stay for different groups of residents. With an increased quality of life despite the high building density, the project shows how modern urban development can succeed in harmony with the historical context. The Lindengasse residential courtyard is thus an example of sustainable, urban construction in Vienna.
