Kunsthaus / Kirchberg am Wagram

In the context of the project at hand, a new art house opens the doors of the former youth prison Kirchberg am Wagram. Through art installations, the building, including the adjacent park landscape and an open foyer, undergoes a multi-layered transformation. The building is deliberately made accessible to a broad general public. This is intended to initiate the process of an objective confrontation and contemplation with the past, while at the same time enabling a creative look into the future. Within the framework of the combination of history and art, the intention is to take away the threshold fear of the visitor and to counteract the negative basic mood of the building. The entire prison area will be transformed into a place of encounter and an open cultural space that can be used throughout the year and that will actively integrate the site.
