KULTURHAUS KIRCHBERG AM WAGRAM

The present project envisages a series of open-use rooms for various cultural events, courses or seminars for the former prison house in Kirchberg am Wagram. For this purpose, the partition walls of the cells on the first and second floors, which face the garden, will be removed. The room on the first floor will have a view of the garden and the landscape through glazing in front of the façade. The listed ensemble is also complemented by a garden pavilion. This can be used both as a café and for events. The new main access to the former prison is via a newly implemented entrance in the basement, which can be reached from the exercise yard as well as via the garden. The added garden pavilion also contains sanitary facilities that are available independently of the café’s operating hours. Thus, the garden can be used as a public park and underlines the concept of a shared place.
