THE WATERINGHOLE

The “Wateringhole” area is intended to provide a place for community and casual gathering within the diversity of multiple uses. Through multiple use, an optimized utilization of space can be achieved, thus increasing economic efficiency. The basic principle of cross-financing makes it possible to finance social projects (such as women’s shelters, foreign language courses and an expanded library operation) through parts of the income from uses of the free economy (such as a conference hotel, housing, renting of work spaces and a catering business). “The Wateringhole” is intended to counteract the lack of gatherings and diverse exchanges that inevitably result from motorized individual transportation in rural areas. The more uses are bundled and thus accessible without a car, the more pronounced the exchange and gatherings.
