Quartier Alleegasse

The Alleegasse neighbourhood is being built on the site of the former building yard in Neunkirchen – a living space for different generations designed with lots of greenery. The heart of the neighbourhood is a landscaped forecourt that serves as a place for meeting and exchange among neighbours. Four multi-storey residential buildings – characterised by the façade construction of light wood in front – overlook the square. The ground floors offer space for shops, offices and gastronomy. The generously proportioned and bright flats above are all equipped with open spaces, either balconies or roof terraces. Each house also has a roof garden that can be used by all residents. A kindergarten is also part of the neighbourhood. This is also characterised by a light, airy design – wood is an essential part of the exterior architecture. A canopy with “light holes” provides shade for the play areas below. Large, round windows serve as seating and lounging areas for the children. The interior impresses with a mixture of exposed concrete and wood. The exercise room can be used for sports classes in the evenings. The kindergarten also has a roof garden that can be accessed by the public. A communal garden on the grounds invites residents to garden together and engage in communicative exchange.
