Dehnepark

Descripion

The property known as “Dehnepark” in Vienna’s 14th district can be seen geographically as part of the extensive Vienna Woods, which offers visitors a “dreamy” landscape that invites them to stroll and hike. In this way, the area can be regarded as a small-scale urban recreation area of the first order. A hilly landscape, sometimes gentle and sometimes steeper, extends over around five hectares, including woodland clearings, a hamlet, meadows, fruit trees and a ruin that is no longer accessible today, the so-called “Ruinenvilla”, which will be the focus of attention below. The Dehne Park, named after the master confectioner August Dehne, has been open to the public since 1973 and can be used for recreation free of charge in summer and winter. The project released a wide variety of ideas and approaches in order to be able to adequately discuss a “solution” that could actually be realized.
